Introduction to Airport Master Planning
Contact Training Department
A master plan represents the strategic vision of an airport’s future development, based on the predicted demand, existing infrastructural assets (airside and landside), possible extensions options, and numerous other considerations (environmental, political, financial and regulatory).
The main challenge of developing a sound master plan, is to achieve a flexible, expandable and modular design to react to changes in terms of demand or airline requirements.
A master plan is linked to the airport’s business plan and can be a powerful communication instrument to the involved shareholders and stakeholders. It defines a set of commonly agreed principles by which future development will be brought forward.
airsight’s 3-day training course provides an overview of the factors considered in airport master planning and introduces the relevant technical and strategic planning parameters.
The course contains presentations on all main topics, which will be supported by group exercises as well as discussions.
Please note: This course can be booked as an in-house version in German or English - however, the course material is only available in English.
