Originally developed for flight operations, the LOSA methodology can be applied across a wide range of airport activities. By observing real-world behaviour across ground handling, ATC coordination and airside vehicle movements, LOSA helps identify human-factor issues, procedural gaps and latent threats before they lead to incidents.

Using trained observers and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles, LOSA captures confidential, non-punitive insights that reflect actual operational practices. The findings support operational resilience, reduce human error and strengthen compliance with ICAO and EASA safety expectations.
