Management of Airport Operations Performance (AOP & APOC)
Airports are undergoing a fundamental transformation: from being mere infrastructure providers to becoming service providers at the heart of the aviation system. This shift brings new challenges for airport operations, where efficiency and predictability are key. In a world of scarce resources and growing demands, airports need to break the cycle of unpredictability to build resilience and ensure smooth collaboration – both on the ground and within the wider ATM network.
For those working in daily operations, predictability means more than planning – it enables staff to anticipate situations, make informed decisions, and deliver reliable services. Aligning airport operations with network operations requires not only new processes and technologies, but also a change in governance, organisational structures, and workforce skills.
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to managing airport operations performance through the concepts of the Airport Operations Plan (AOP) and the Airport Operations Centre (APOC). Participants will gain valuable insights into how airports can strengthen resilience, improve coordination, and adapt to the evolving role of service provision. With a focus on proactive monitoring and collaborative decision-making, the training equips professionals with the knowledge to future-proof their organisations and take airport operations to the next level.

Trainer
Dirk Bresser
Dirk Bresser brings over two decades of extensive experience in airport operations, safety, and innovation. His background includes roles at the Royal Schiphol Group and at Eurocontrol, where he played a role in integrating local airport processes with the European network to enhance predictability and safety in daily operations. As the founding chair of the Schiphol Ground Movement Safety Team (ISMS), Dirk has led initiatives that balance capacity, safety, and sustainability, underscoring his commitment to operational safety. He initiated sustainable taxiing at Schiphol airport back in 2020 and led Europe’s first working group for regulators and led tests on autonomous driving on airside. In his position as Airport Operations Plan (AOP) and Network Operations Plan (NOP) Lead within Schiphol’s Airport Operation Centre (APOC), Dirk emphasized collaborative decision-making, ensuring seamless operations among multiple stakeholders.
To further structurally build on airport/network integration, Dirk has been involved in authoring the ACI AOP implementation guide and was part of the ANI Taskforce to align the needs of airports with compliancy and quality standards.
