Wildlife Strike Hazard Reduction
Most wildlife aircraft strikes occur on or in the vicinity of aerodromes, and represent serious safety concerns for air operations. Therefore, as required by ICAO and EASA, aerodromes are required to establish a Wildlife Hazard Control and Management Programme and competent authorities shall establish and implement procedures for reporting and recording wildlife strikes to aircraft.
This training provides aerodrome operations Competent Authority staff with essential information about the applicable requirements related to Wildlife Strike Hazard Reduction. Attendees will gain knowledge on common species causing hazards in the proximity of aerodromes. In addition, participants will learn about the latest technology, equipment, methods and techniques aimed at trying to reduce the risk of bird strikes. The training course will cover the measures which should be adopted as part of an aerodrome’s Safety Management System (SMS) whilst attempting to manage wildlife related hazards.
The course is a virtual classroom training which covers key facets of wildlife hazard control including: industry best-practices, strategies to minimise bird hazard attractants, as well as methods to identify trends and patterns and to keep record for risk management purposes.

His sector competence is maintained by continuing to work in a live airside operational environment. Possessing both frontline and management experience, gained from working at airports of various scales (regional to international hub) around the world, Mark is able to enhance the learning experience by sharing industry good practices. For more than 10 years he has been contracted by Heathrow Airport Ltd not only to train and assess staff, successfully delivering the UK's first accredited aviation apprenticeships in the airside safety and operations sector, but also to support senior management within the Airfield Operations Department.
Mark has attended the UK Bird Strike Committee (BSC), is an Associate Member of both the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE) and the UK Society for Education and Training (ASET) and sits on the UK Aviation Industry Skills Board’s (AISB’s) People 1st Airport Special Interest Group (SIG).

To access our live training course you will simply need:
