The daily flight operation is characterized by a complex interaction of cockpit crew, operational flight planning and airport operators as well as national and supranational Air Traffic Service Providers. For the conduction of a single flight numerous requirements have to be considered during flight preparations and performance on the one hand; on the other hand the aircraft has to be flown as safely and efficient as possible under rapidly changing external conditions.

The training provides an intensive overview of the various aspects of a flight from the on-board perspective (such as Pre-Flight-Operations, Crew Ressource Management, ATC). All phases of the instrument flight will be presented including the crew actions and used technologies. The participants get basic information of working processes of a cockpit crew using practical examples. The training will be supported by using a variety of tools and original software such as Electronical Flight Bag and Performance Calculation Tool as well as simulations of different aircrafts and interactive exercises (e.g. aircraft radio communication).

At the end of the training, all learned operations and flight phases will be explained using a simulation environment. An entire instrument flight will be conducted on a PC-based simulation using standard operational procedures.

The 3-day training is dedicated to different stakeholders in aviation (e.g. airlines, airport operators, MRO organizations, and authorities), who want a deeper insight in flight operations and their individual aspects.

Trainer

Dr.-Ing. Ferdinand Behrend

Dr.-Ing. Ferdinand Behrend has worked as a center controller for German Air Traffic Services (DFS) and gained many years of experience as a lecturer for flight navigation and air traffic control at several universities. Furthermore, he was responsible for various research projects in collaboration with EUROCONTROL, DFS and Lufthansa Flight Training in the SESAR and SESAR 2020 program. Thereby he gained experience in operating different aircraft types, such as A320, A330, A340, A380, B737, B747 and B777. Dr. Behrend works for Airsight as a consultant in various projects and is responsible for several courses (e.g. flight operations, CNS-safeguarding).
